Helm FAQ
Does Helm have Double Barrel technology?
Helm has a different approach to damping relative to our Double Barrel technology. Because a leverage ratio is applied to a rear shock within the rear suspension design of a frame, and a fork has no leverage ratio (body weight directly applies to the fork’s travel), a rear shock experiences around three times the amount of damping forces that a front fork experiences. Therefore, Double Barrel technology for rear shocks doesn’t provide the same type of benefit for front forks.
What is the Helm damper design?
Helm’s damper is a closed cartridge mono-tube design that provides control of high speed compression, low speed compression, and rebound.
What is the travel of Helm forks?
Helm Air 27.5 forks will have a maximum travel setting of 170mm. Helm Coil 27.5, Helm Coil 29 and Helm Air 29 forks will have a maximum travel setting of 160mm.
Helm Forks are travel adjustable, but are optimized for travel settings between 170mm and 130mm of travel.
Helm Air forks use travel spacers to adjust travel. Two 10mm travel spacers are included with every Helm Air fork. Helm Coil forks are adjusted by changing the location of the spring perch (coil piston) on the travel-indexed compression rod. This procedure requires no additional parts.
Is the travel easily adjustable?
Travel adjustment must be performed internally. Instructions for this procedure can be found within the Helm instruction manual included with every fork.
It is recommended that an experienced mechanic perform the procedure.
How much does Helm MKII weigh?
Helm MKII Air weighs 2080g and Helm MKII Coil weighs 2340g.
What colors is Helm MKII available in?
Helm MKII is available in a matte black (27.5") and gloss finish (29") with black decals. All Helm MKII forks are also available in Cane Creek's Chroma Studio Colors: Blue, Silver, Red, Gold, and Purple.
Is it Helm Boost spacing?
Helm forks are only available in 15mmx110mm BOOST spacing with traditional end caps.
Can I use Helm with a non-Boost front wheel?
Yes, a non-Boost front wheel can be used with the proper spacer adapter kit.
Are spacers kits for non-Boost front wheels available through Cane Creek?
No, adapter kits are specific to wheel models. Please see your wheel manufacturers’ specifications. Options can be found at wheelsmfg.com
How is Helm's air spring curve adjusted? Does it use tokens?
Helm’s air spring curve is adjusted internally by an indexed rod and static piston assembly, no additional parts need to be purchased/installed to perform this change. Air volume can be adjusted by removing the air valve assembly out of the left leg of the fork using a 30mm wrench and moving the static piston up or down the indexed rod to achieve the proper spring curve.
Is the thru-axle design unique to the Helm?
Yes, the D-LOC thru-axle system is unique to Helm.
Can I use a non D-Loc thru-axle for Helm?
No, Helm’s D-Loc axle must be used on Helm forks, using any other axle system will void its warranty.
What is the max tire size for Helm MKII?
The maximum tire size for Helm MKII 29 is 64mm wide by 749mm tall, the maximum tire size for Helm MKII 27.5 is 553mm wide by 714mm tall.
Is there a reduced offset version of Helm available?

What is the warranty on Helm MKII?
All Cane Creek suspension products, including Helm, have a limited one (1) year warranty, subject to limitations.
What adjustments does Helm have?
Helm forks are 7-way adjustable: 10 positions of high speed compression , 20 positions of low speed compression, 15 positions of low speed rebound, 8 positions volume reduction, independent positive and negative air chambers. And internal travel adjustment.
Does Helm have to be sent in for servicing?
Yes, for best performance, Cane Creek recommends a Fork Lower service for every 50 hours of use. Additionally, a Full Fork air spring and damper rebuild performed by a Cane Creek authorized service center for every 100 hours of use.
How is the negative spring pressure set on Helm?
The negative air chamber is manually equalized using the equalizing valve at the bottom of the left side leg. After adding air to the positive chamber at the top of the fork, unthread the equalizing valve cap and press the button to charge the negative air chamber. More details are available in the Helm Use Manual.
How is the negative spring pressure adjusted on Helm?
Because the two air chambers are isolated, the rider can set different air pressures in the differing chambers for the desired feel. First, inflate the positive air chamber, then press the negative air chamber equalizer button. Once the two air chambers have the same amount of pressure, either increase or decrease the amount of air in the positive chamber. The negative air chamber will remain at the original psi relative to the change in positive air pressure.
Can I install any of the Helm MKII parts in my original Helm?
The new SKF wiper seals are compatible and will be used in all factory and service center 100 hour service rebuilds and available in new 50 hour service kits. Additionally, 2.5wt damper oil is now used on all damper services.
The Bolt-on D-Loc Axle that is stock on the Helm MKII can be installed on original Helm forks.
Helm MKII decals are also retrofittable to the original Helm lowers.
The MKII damper is compatible with the original Helm. This can be swapped out as part of a 100 hour service either with our Factory Direct Service or through one of our Authorized Service Centers.
I see fender mounts on the back of the arch, do you make a Helm specific fender?
Unfortunately Helm fenders are no longer available.
Can I service the Helm at home?
Yes, any shop or end user that is comfortable with suspension can perform the recommended 50 hour service using the service kit and 50 Hour Service Instruction Manual. It is recommended that a Cane Creek Authorized Service Center perform the 100 hour service.
What coil spring rate comes stock with Helm Coil forks?
The 55 lb spring (green) is installed from the factory. The 55 lb spring is ideal for a 160 - 200 lb rider.
35-45-55-65 lbs/in springs are available on our Fork Parts and Accessories Page.
Can I use the One Up EDC tool with my Helm?
Yes, the OneUp EDC Lite Tool, EDC Threadless Carrier, and EDC Threaded Carrier are compatible with Helm, depending on the length of your steerer tube after cutting. Refer to the EDC Fork Calculator & Compatibility page on OneUp's website for more information. Threading the steerer tube of your Helm to use the EDC Threaded Carrier will not void the warranty if you properly follow One Up's instructions.
Invert Gravel FAQ
What is the max tire size for Invert Gravel?
The maximum tire size for Invert Gravel is 700cx50mm.
What is the travel for Invert Gravel Fork?
The Invert Gravel fork has two models: Invert CS & Invert SL and are both available in 30mm and 40mm travel options.
Invert Enduro FAQ
Do you offer a coil version?
No, Invert Enduro comes with an air spring only. It’s a very adjustable air spring that can be setup to feel super plush and linear if you prefer that feeling. In its most linear setting, it is quite easy to use full travel, even for lighter weight riders.
What type of damper does Invert Enduro use?
Invert Enduro uses a closed-cartridge, monotube damper with a bladder. It’s the second generation Cane Creek fork damper and the same one used in Helm MKII. This damper has an extremely reliable design, is easy to adjust, and provides a meaningful range of adjustment to suit the vast majority of riders and bike types.
What are the damper adjustments?
Independent high and low speed compression, with a single low speed rebound adjuster. The high-speed rebound is pre-set and managed internally by a shim stack on the rebound piston. Each damper adjuster features 10 clicks and a wide, discernable range of adjustment.
How do I tune the progression of the fork?
Progression for Invert Enduro is adjusted using a fully onboard volume adjustment system. It consists of a shaft and piston that live directly underneath the air valve. To change the progressivity of the fork, simply unthread the bottom cap on air leg using a 13mm socket and adjust the position of the volume adjustment piston by hand. See instruction manual for more important details.
Will Invert Enduro change my bike’s geometry or fit?
No. The Axle-to-Crown (fork height) of Invert Enduro is 586mm in the 170mm travel version. Simply add or subtract 10mm to determine ATC for the 160mm and 180mm forks. This ATC is nearly identical to other mainstream options in this travel range, so Invert Enduro will not have any discernable effect on the fit or handling of your bike.
Can I service the fork at home?
Routine splash oil changes (typical ‘lowers service’) can easily be done in a matter of minutes at home. This procedure does not require special tools beyond a 13mm and 18mm socket to remove the fork legs from the upper.
How do you change travel on Invert Enduro?
Changing travel requires a different length air spring assembly. These will be available for purchase through Cane Creek dealers and service centers if you need to change the travel of the fork. This procedure requires disassembly.
Is Invert Enduro designed for e-bikes?
Yes! Invert Enduro is designed to be robust enough for heavy e-bike use. Much of the R&D and development of the fork was completed on full power e-bikes in bike park settings. We’re confident you will LOVE Invert Enduro on your e-bike.
How do I set up and tune Invert Enduro?
We’ve got an app for that! ForkTuner is a free web app that walks riders through the full setup and tuning procedure – the same one used by OEM and pro riders – and helps riders identify a tune that works for them regardless of their riding style. It’s an interactive suspension tuning coach that riders can utilize trailside and then use to log their settings. ForkTuner comes as a sequel to our existing ShockTuner app and will cover setup for both Helm MKII and Invert Enduro.
Are there any special types of hubs required for the fork to perform optimally?
No. Any modern, 110mm boost thru-axle hub will fit and perform optimally with the fork. There are no additional fit requirements or hub design criteria that we specify for use with Invert Enduro. Thanks to the SquareLoc dual axle compatibility, Invert Enduro is compatible with both 15x110 boost and 20x110 boost front hubs.
Do I need a different headset to use the fork?
Most likely, no. Invert Enduro uses a 1 1/8” - 1.5” steerer tube which is the common industry standard for modern mountain bike suspension forks. It should work with 99% of the headsets in modern mountain bikes.
Is Invert Enduro compatible with 27.5 wheels?
Invert Enduro is strictly designed to be used with 29” wheels. While you could mount a 27.5” wheel in the fork with no apparent issues, it will lower the front end of the bike considerably and would likely negatively impact the handling. For example, this would steepen the headtube angle and lower the bottom bracket, making the bike less stable at speed and more likely to have issues with pedal strikes.
What’s the max tire clearance?
There is room to safely clear a 29x2.6” tire on a 30mm internal width rim.
Do I have to use the SideSwipe guards?
Yes. Beyond the primary reason of protecting the stanchions from damage, the guards are required to safely manage the brake hose as the fork travels so that it does not get caught in the spokes.
How much sag should I run on Invert Enduro?
Invert Enduro is recommended to be set up with 25% sag. Riders are welcome to use more or less than this, but 25% is our recommended starting point. There are sag marks on the drive side guard that indicate this position for each fork travel. (160, 170, 180)
The fork bottoms too easily even after setting sag correctly. What should I do?
It’s time to reduce the volume of the fork (aka. make more progressive) Remove the air from the air spring, unthread the bottom cap on air leg using a 13mm socket, and adjust the position of the volume adjustment piston by hand. See instruction manual for more important details.
Do I need to manually equalize the pos/neg air spring, similar to how it’s done on Helm MKII?
No. Invert Enduro uses a charge port style air spring that automatically equalizes the positive and negative chambers just by compressing the fork several times.
What are the bleed screws on the top caps for, and how often should I use them?
These ‘bleeder’ screws are to designed to allow the rider to remove any excess air pressure that gets trapped in the fork uppers during use. This can happen during hard compressions, large temperature swings, or large changes in elevation such as when traveling to new regions. By removing any trapped air, you will maintain the smoothest possible operation of the fork and maintain your ability to use full travel. For best performance, remove and reinstall the bleed screws often. Once every several weeks is sufficient for most riders.
What brake adapters do I need to install Invert Enduro?
Invert Enduro is a direct, post mount for 200mm. If you use 200mm or 203mm front rotor, you do not need any adapters and the brake caliper will bolt directly to the fork. You can also use a 220mm rotor with a +20mm post mount adapter.
