At Cane Creek Cycling Components, supporting National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) just feels like a natural fit. We’re a company built around bikes and the communities that grow around them, so being part of something that gets more kids riding—and feeling like they belong while doing it—matters to us.

What we appreciate most about NICA is that it’s not only about racing. It’s about giving kids a place to show up, try something new, and build confidence along the way. The focus on inclusivity and personal growth creates space for all kinds of riders, not just the fastest ones. That’s something we believe in deeply. When more people feel welcome on bikes, the whole sport gets better.

We also see how much this kind of program can shape a community. The team model brings together riders, families, and coaches in a way that goes beyond the trail. It creates connections, shared experiences, and a sense of support that sticks. That’s the kind of cycling culture we want to be part of—one that’s grounded in people as much as it is in riding.

Here in Western North Carolina, it’s been especially inspiring to watch things grow. Participation has climbed in a big way, and one of the most exciting shifts has been the number of girls getting involved. Alongside that, we’re seeing more female coaches step into leadership roles, which makes a real difference. It helps create an environment where more young riders can see themselves reflected and feel comfortable jumping in.

That kind of momentum builds on itself. More riders lead to stronger communities, better advocacy, and a more open, welcoming version of the sport. It’s a reminder that when the door is open and the support is there, people show up.

For us, supporting NICA is really about that bigger picture. It’s about helping make sure cycling continues to grow in a way that feels inclusive, connected, and true to why we all started riding in the first place.
