At Cane Creek Cycling Components, the connection between our work and the trails isn’t abstract—it’s personal. Roughly 85% of our team rides bikes, which means the trails of Western North Carolina aren’t just places we recreate; they’re part of our daily lives. They shape our product conversations, influence how we test-ride, and ultimately ground us in why we do what we do. Supporting our local Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association chapter isn’t a corporate initiative—it’s a natural extension of who we are.

Across Western North Carolina, that mindset is shared. The outdoor industry here is tightly woven into the landscape, and the businesses that thrive are the ones that recognize their responsibility to it. Whether it’s manufacturers, retailers, or guides, there’s a common understanding: healthy trails and a strong riding community are essential to both quality of life and long-term economic vitality.

Support, however, doesn’t have to mean writing a check. Some of the most meaningful contributions come from showing up. That might look like rolling up sleeves for trail workdays, adopting and maintaining sections of trail—like our commitment to Buckwheat Trail—or volunteering time at events like the WNC Bike Fest. It can mean co-hosting community rides, organizing social gatherings, or helping create opportunities that bring people together around a shared love of riding.

These efforts build more than just trails—they build community. They create entry points for new riders, strengthen relationships between businesses and nonprofits, and reinforce the culture that makes this region special. When companies invest time and energy into the places their employees and customers care about, it creates a ripple effect that extends far beyond a single trail system.

At the end of the day, supporting Pisgah Area SORBA isn’t about obligation—it’s about stewardship. It’s about recognizing that the same trails that inspire our rides also sustain our industry. And if we want both to remain vibrant for years to come, showing up—however we can—is the most important place to start.
