Fast all around:

Instant acceleration for the track

Endurance 85 What goes around comes around. Cane Creek track wheels are built to spin in perfect circles—very fast circles. Their patented design makes these wheels stiff, light, and durable, and they are the right choice for track racers who need security and confidence when diving into turns and accelerating out of them. By positioning spoke nipples at the hub and building each wheel by hand, we give our track wheels a high spoke tension and achieve numerous performance advantages, including an instant responsiveness that track riders can’t live without. Bicycling Magazine praised a pair of Cane Creek track wheels as “among the quickest-accelerating track wheels our tester has ever ridden.” If you’re on the track, you need to be on our track wheels.

Right on track

Cane Creek wheels have always been fast, but when we put them on a track bike, it was a match made in velodrome heaven. The wheels’ foundation—high-tension straight-pull spokes with nipples at the hub—yields a track-friendly union of lateral stability and quick acceleration. And we didn’t stop there, adding in track-specific boosters such as Torque Transfer Flanges on the hub and deep-section rims. Now we’ve expanded the number of track wheel models, presenting a performance upgrade opportunity to everyone from would-be Olympians to weekend track and fixed-gear flyers.

Designed to be faster

Sprint 50 In a world of imitation wheelsets, Cane Creek track wheels are original. We created and patented our design, featuring spoke nipples at the hub, spoke heads at the rim, and high-tension straight-pull spokes. Placing the nipples close to the wheel’s rotational axis greatly reduces rotating inertia compared to traditional wheels. The high spoke tension and robust hub flanges make for an all-out stability that delivers instant responsiveness and confidence.

We build each wheel by hand, one at a time. With so much quality and care going into our wheels, it’s easy for us to stand behind them. And it’s easy for you to appreciate a better ride.

Pillars of strength

Track riding makes extra demands on wheels. Cane Creek track wheels use hubs with extra-tall Torque Transfer Flanges to add extra lateral stiffness. The rear hub comes in two configurations—traditional fixed-gear only, or an optional “flip-flop” design that allows for a freewheeling gear on one side and a fixed gear on the other. The hubs also roll on sealed cartridge bearings designed to ensure smooth long-running performance.

Our track wheels come in six models. Most of the differences between them arise from their distinctive rims, which vary in material (carbon or aluminum) and depth of their profiles.

Why our wheels accelerate faster

0.27 g vs. 48.55 g Physicists use the term Moment of Inertia (MOI) to describe the effects of mass during rotation. And MOI is one of the forces working against you every time you accelerate. More than 95% of the MOI associated with propelling a bicycle is attributable to the wheels. This means that gram for gram, your wheels are your bike’s most critical components.

One of the ways our engineers minimize MOI is by locating Cane Creek spoke nipples at the hub. To understand how dramatically this affects acceleration, imagine if we moved the nipples to the traditional location at the rim: Given a nipple weight of 0.27 grams, the effect on the wheel’s MOI would be the same as if we’d replaced them with nipples weighing 48.55 grams.
