Where is Cane Creek located?Cane Creek Cycling Components is located in Fletcher, North Carolina,
in the mountainous western part of our home state. Our native Blue
Ridge Mountains have some of the most rugged terrain and highest peaks
of the Appalachian range. There are two renowned national forests,
Pisgah and Nantahala, and the city of Asheville is about 10 miles away.
There is also a Cane Creek—it's a stream that runs by our office and
also the name of the valley and road where our office is located.

What is the history of Cane Creek?
Cane Creek started in 1995. Our first product line had brakes,
headsets, hubs, and shocks. Our original air-shock design gradually won
over a suspension universe that was in thrall to coil shocks. In early
1997, we took over the Cronometro wheel from its creator and
re-christened it the Cane Creek Crono wheel. Before long, Crono wheels
were widely acclaimed in the market and formed the heart of our product
line, alongside our AD shocks and threadless headset. While we have
continued to assert our leadership in those three product categories,
we have expanded into other areas that can benefit from a dose of our
"technology that makes sense." In 1999 we acquired the Thudbuster
suspension seatpost and have since upgraded its patented design to
provide what has been called the "ultimate upgrade for hardtails." We
also have developed the Direct Curve line of MTB braking components. As
you can see from this Web site, our core products are wheels, shocks,
headsets, suspension seatposts, brakes, with accessories and apparel in
a supporting role.
What's the creature on the Cane Creek logo?
It's a juvenile five-lined skink, a type of skink native to most of the
eastern and southern United States and frequently spotted in our native
western North Carolina. Skinks are a group of smooth, shiny, alert and
active lizards that are difficult to catch and hold. Their tails break
off very easily! Newly hatched five-lined skinks and juveniles have
five yellowish to white stripes on their back and bright blue tails.
Adults generally lose the bright coloration.
Do you make your components at your own facility?
Yes. Most major Cane Creek components are designed and assembled by
us at our headquarters, including shocks, wheels and high-end
threadless headsets. The hands-on workmanship assures us and you of the
highest quality control and also reduces the time between a component's
date of manufacture and the day it's on your bike. We have a great deal
of pride in being a US company that maintains the highest
standards of manufacturing excellence. It's another reason we stand
behind what we make.
