Can you valve a Double Barrel shock for me and my bike? The Double Barrel eliminates the need for "custom valving". The Double Barrel is so user adjustable that you (the rider) custom tune the shock yourself, to match your course and conditions. Instead of having to send the shock off for tuning, you just turn the external adjusters to dial in your unique settings. Because each adjuster is independent (for example: changing high speed compression will not affect anything besides high speed compression) the Double Barrel is remarkably intuitive to tune. A comprehensive instruction manual is included with each Double Barrel that explains how the adjusters work and how to get the most out of your shock. (Speaking of "custom tuned" shocks, you might ask yourself: If they are custom tuned exactly for you as claimed, why do they have adjusters on them?)
Does the Double Barrel have a pedal platform? You can easily adjust the Double Barrel to have a pedal platform (by adjusting the low speed compression.) In fact, you can adjust the Double Barrel to have a more stable pedal platform than shocks advertising how great their pedal platforms are. (We've proved this by dynomometer testing.) With the Double Barrel, you can tune in a pedal platform when needed, and then take it out when not needed -- all from simple external adjusters. With the same shock, you can have the pedaling efficiency going uphill and then low speed sensitivity going downhill.
Can I change the air pressure in the Double Barrel? There is no need to. Take your shock pump out of your backpack (unless your fork needs it!) The Double Barrel's sealed nitrogen charge is set at the factory and will not need adjusting.
I need a 8.75" (or 9" etc.) shock -- do you make a Double Barrel this size?Yes we do, but we need to know the year and model of your bike, to ensure there will be adequate clearance on your bike, because the size of the Double Barrel's twin adjusters and spring clip location are unique. We make a shock for any bike worth owning, so we've heard someone say if the Double Barrel won't fit your bike, it's time to get a new bike.
Do you make a Double Barrel that will fit a Santa Cruz Nomad?Yes. (And this is a great Double Barrel-ed bike.)
Will a Double Barrel work with an Ironhorse Sunday's leverage ratio?Yes, very well.
On my current shock, I run a 450 lb. spring. Why are you recommending I use a 400 lb. spring with the Double Barrel? In most cases when upgarding to the Double Barrel, you will end up with a lower spring rate. The Double Barrel uses a fundamentally different design than other shocks on the market. Because the Double Barrel unique Twin Tube damper does more work than average shocks, the spring is not required to absorb as much energy for a given impact. What this means for you is better shock response with no pack up.
Don't throw your Ti spring in the trash yet though. Everyone is different and you might find yourself running the same spring rate as your current shock, but probably not.
