ENGINEERING SUSPENSION TECHNICIAN

 Reports to: VP, Engineering and Product Development

Major Responsibilities: The Engineering Suspension Technician will be responsible for supporting a variety of technical and organizational needs of the Engineering department. This will include organization and inventory of prototype parts, assembly and diagnosis of prototypes, structural and performance testing of prototypes, managing compliance with EN and CPSC testing requirements, and maintenance and inventory of Cane Creek’s test related hardware. In addition to being the technical and innovation leaders in bicycle suspension, Cane Creek’s bicycle suspension products and headset products set industry performance and reliability benchmarks in their respective categories. The Engineering Suspension Technician will help ensure that Cane Creek products advance the state of the art through innovation and continue to set and advance these benchmarks.

SPECIFICALLY:

1) Prototype inventory and assembly – The Engineering Suspension Technician will manage the organization, inventory, and quality control of all Cane Creek’s prototype (non-production) parts. Additionally, this role will be responsible for assembling and testing functional prototypes, built from prototype parts. This includes diagnosing and documenting all assembly and functional problems at the prototype level to shorten the lead time to robust production ready designs. Formal documentation and management of the documentation of the associated data/problems/diagnosis is expected.

2) Testing – This position will be responsible for planning, performing, and documenting a significant amount of product and part testing. Testing will range from simple functional testing of prototypes and prototype parts to all formal compliance testing required (EN, CSPC, etc.). Ability to operate and diagnose all Cane Creek’s test machinery will be required.

3) Test fixture design and fabrication and test machine maintenance – Test machines and fixtures will need to customized for Cane Creek’s testing needs. This position will design and fabricate (when possible) fixtures and tooling required to perform testing. This includes but is not limited to all suspension testing equipment. Further, the Engineering Suspension Technician will maintain Cane Creek’s testing machinery so that it is available and able to perform required testing in a timely manner.

4) Test fleet and partner bike management – Cane Creek has bicycle related equipment for the purposes of testing and advancing our products. The Engineering Suspension Technician will maintain this fleet in good working order and keep an inventory of all assets. These responsibilities will extend to “partner bikes”, those bikes that are loaned to Cane Creek for various functions (launches, base tune testing, advertising, etc.). All such bikes and equipment will be kept in good working order and/or replaced in a timely fashion to facilitate

OTHER KEY TASKS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Support engineering needs of production, including maintenance of current products and tooling, and design of new tooling.

• Create and adhere to project plans and timelines for product enhancements and refinements that align with overall Cane Creek company objectives and timelines.

• This position may require domestic travel as well as international travel to Asia and/or Europe (a valid passport is required).

• Maintain documentation including: 3D part model files, 2D part drawing files, BOMs, order status, state and location of prototype assemblies and parts.

• Stay up to date with innovations in the bicycle industry.

• Be a representative of Cane Creek to people outside the company in a manner consistent with Cane Creek’s brand and core values.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

- Extremely proficient in assembly and disassembly of suspension components

- Strong background in problem solving and diagnosis of hydraulic systems

- Familiarity with suspension fluids, seals, and componentry

- Ability to produce and maintain detailed documentation and test reports

- Proficient with manual machine tools (engine lathe, knee mill, grinders, saws, fixturing). Experience with CNC is preferred.

- Excellent mechanical skills

- Familiarity with bicycles, especially full suspension mountain bikes

SR. product engineer

Reports to: VP, Engineering and Product Development

The Senior Product Engineer will be responsible for the engineering support of all existing Cane Creek products. Cane Creek’s bicycle suspension products and headset products set industry performance and reliability benchmarks in their respective categories. The Senior Product Engineer will ensure that Cane Creek products continue to set and advance these benchmarks. This will require maintaining and enhancing existing products and continual improvement of processes associated with manufacturing, testing, sourcing, quality control, and customer service support.

Specifically:

1) Product Development - This position requires refining and updating products throughout Cane Creek’s categories for continuous improvement. This role will have engineering responsibility over all existing products and will be the primary interface between manufacturing and engineering for all existing products. There is open opportunity for bringing your own ideas to market and it is an expected part of the position that you bring creativity and innovation to expand/improve current product offerings.

2) Product Design - The design component of this position will involve fundamental engineering analysis, 3D model and drawing preparation, design for manufacturability, design for capability, and material selection.

3) Manufacturing Support – This senior engineering role will provide the primary engineering support to the manufacturing department.

4) Product and Tooling Prototyping - The prototyping component will require sourcing and/or fabrication of prototypes, first articles, as well as vendor relations and prototype testing.

5) Internal Quality Control – This position will work closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure that critical features/dimensions/parts of incoming parts/assemblies meet specifications. This involves identifying such critical features/dimensions/parts, measurement and/or certification, and documentation.

Other Key Tasks/Essential Functions:

• Support engineering needs of production, including maintenance of current products and tooling, and design of new tooling.

• Create and adhere to project plans and timelines for product enhancements and refinements that align with overall Cane Creek company objectives and timelines.

• This position will likely require domestic travel as well as international travel to Asia and Europe (a valid passport is required).

• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Shipping/Receiving, Sales, and Customer Service to prevent, anticipate, and resolve quality control issues.

• Management – as this position grows in responsibility, managing other technicians and engineers will become a critical responsibility.

• Maintain documentation including: Standard Work Procedures, BOMs,Deviation Requests, Engineering Change Notices, etc.

• Stay up to date with innovations in the bicycle industry.

• Be a representative of Cane Creek to people outside the company in a manner consistent with Cane Creek’s brand and core values.

Minimum Qualifications:

- BSME or equivalent

- Significant (5+ years) experience with fluid systems (hydraulic/pneumatic, static and dynamic seals, surface finish requirements of dynamic fluid components, preferably experience with hydraulic shock absorbers.

- Professional level capabilities in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks a plus; analysis skills a plus) and PDM systems

- Professional level experience with ERP systems and BOMs

- Strong engineering analysis and problem solving skills with an appreciation for long term robust solutions.

- Motivated, self-starter able to be independently productive in open environment

- Able to “wear many hats” in a mid-sized corporate role

- Able to manage multiple project tasks efficiently and prioritize based on long-term schedules

- Hands on approach to engineering (mechanically inclined)

- Good communication skills

Human Resource Generalist

Reports to: CEO

Supports Cane Creek’s corporate objectives by developing and implementing human resource programs that optimize employee performance and satisfaction. In addition to the administration of human resource policies and procedures, the HR Generalist is expected to identify and clarify human resource opportunities and issues, evaluate potential solutions, implement selected solutions and coach and counsel team members.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Administers hiring and termination processes

• Maintains present and past employee files

• Manages employee development and facilitates training

• Communicates employee information to outside parties, adheres to required federal and state census reporting guidelines

• Develops and maintains employee healthcare benefits and wellness programs

Job Requirements
