Low Speed & High Speed Inputs
All-Speed Damping is possible only through analysis and control of impact dynamics. And in impact dynamics, two variables are key: low speed inputs and high speed inputs.
Low speed inputs come from slow undulations on the trail or movement of the frame caused by pedaling forces.
High speed inputs are a result of bigger impacts such as dropping off a ledge or hitting a bump fast and hard.
First, a shock has to be able to absorb the energy of both types of inputs. Second, it has to be able to manage the rebound energy stored in the spring. It sounds simple enough, but it’s not.
